AdventHealth Centra Care, we understand the importance of providing comfort and care – we are more than urgent care provider, we are here to uplift our community through big and small actions. With the creativity and vision of Community Care, Centra Care is able to say, “We Care” because true wellness extends beyond medical treatment. When the temperature drops, a warm blanket can mean everything. At AdventHealth Centra Care, we understand the importance of providing comfort and care ~ especially during the colder months. It’s not hard to remember January 20, 2025 when the governor declared a State of Emergency due to the serve cold weather in Florida. That’s why we launched CareBlankets.org, a community driven initiative designed to bring warmth to those in need through the power of generosity and creativity.
Hundreds of caring and talented volunteers across Florida are crafting beautiful, handmade blankets ~ quilts, afghans, and more all in preparation for the chillier days and nights November through February. It’s more than just a project; it’s a shared mission to spread warmth, love, and hope throughout the communities we serve.

Blankets That Bring Warmth and Care
For many, cold weather is an unwelcome challenge threatening comfort and health. When temperatures drop, staying warm isn’t just about convenience ~ it’s about well-being and safety. Florida may not get the snowstorms of northern states, but frosty nights and brisk mornings can cause discomfort, especially to vulnerable individuals and families with inadequate heating or cozy blankets.
That’s where Community Care and the AdventHealth Centra Care team come in. More than just an urgent care provider, we’re here to uplift our community show that “We care” ~ we believe LOVE is an ACTION word and overall wellness is important and goes beyond medical treatment. Helping people when they feel vulnerable when they are ill, cold or injured matters to us every day.
These blankets created through CareBlankets.org aren’t just fabrics stitched together ~ they’re expressions of compassion from people across Florida and beyond. Whether sewn, knitted, or crocheted, each piece tells a story of kindness and connection. From expert quilters to first-time crafters, everyone contributes their time, talent, or resources to make this project successful.
By the time the cold weather arrives, these lovingly handmade blankets, are ready to provide warmth to our neighbors in need. These creations will remind recipients that they’re not alone and that their community truly cares.

At AdventHealth Centra Care and Community Care, we believe it is also our role to bring comfort and compassion to the lives we touch in the community. The AdventHealth mission is “To Extend the Healing Ministry of Christ” to patients, families, and to our community. Together, this mission is based on the idea that health should be measured by the whole person, including their mind, body, and spirit.

Connect With Us...
A History of Caring for the Community
It all began in 2002 with our first event, in partnership with AdventHealth Centra Care, providing free flu shots to thousands of residents. Since then, we have given over 240,000 free flu shots to patients ranging in age from 8 months to 101 years old! But we did not stop there.
During these events, along with free flu shots, we make sure there is plenty of health education, lots of hugs and more than enough fun! That is because, while the health of those attending is of primary importance, a bit of fun makes it easier on parents trying to get their children vaccinated. Do fun and flu shots go together? Just ask any of the kids ~ many of whom forget they even had a shot once they are back in the car and headed safely home.
And boy do we know how to have fun! We have literally danced our way through elementary schools teaching kids about exercising and eating right. We have given out super-flu-fighter capes and snow cones, done face painting and hosted Disney Princess appearances.
In conjunction with our partners, we hold three Guinness World Records for flu shots and one record for the Project Pressure program, which included the most blood pressure’s taken in a single day. Also, we gave away over 15,000 Colon Cancer screening kits with more than 600 patients reporting their cancer was detected through this test. Participants find the education and help they need to get and stay healthy. In fact, many come back year after year because they now count on Community Care partners.
